Honey Pure and Simple
Basking Bee's honey is made by our honeybees who forage for miles around the farm, collecting nectar and pollen from a wide range of flowering plants. In February, they start with early blooms such as Maple. As the months progress and warm, the available flowers change. Each flower's nectar and pollen contribute their own flavors to the honey we collect from our apiary. The resulting honey is a floral, mid-grade amber.
In late Spring through early July, we pull capped honeycomb from the hives, uncap it, and extract the honey. The honey flows through a gravity fed filter which removes large particulates such as wax. We do not super heat or filter our honey, preserving the pollen and beneficial enzymes provided by the honeybees .
Once extracted, our honey is stored in food quality containers or honey kegs until we bottle it to fill your order.
